RECONSTRUCTION OF HOUSTON ST. NEWSLETTER

DDC WORK NEARS COMPLETION:
The NYCDDC reconstruction project on Houston Street between West and Bowery Streets is nearing completion. The following work has been completed:

W. Houston St. between Mercer Street and Broadway
The intersection of Broadway and Houston Street
¨ Installed approximately 180LF of new 48” trunk water main
¨ Installed approximately 320LF of new 36” trunk water main
¨ Installed approximately 136LF of new 30” trunk water main
¨ Installed approximately 320LF of new 20” distribution water main
¨ Installed approximately 507LF of new 12” distribution water main
¨ Installed approximately 120LF of new 6” distribution water main
¨ Replaced combined sewer and catch basins
¨ Reconstructed the center mall
¨ Post and chain fence in the medians
¨ Replaced concrete road base including
Ø curbs, pigmented concrete sidewalks, bus pads
¨ Street-scapes, including:
Ø traffic signals, street lighting and landscape treatment, etc

WORK SCHEDULED FOR May/June 2009:
W. Houston St. from Mercer St. to Broadway and the intersection of Houston St. and Broadway:
¨ Final Pavement and Pavement Markings

W. Houston St. from 6th Ave. to Bowery:
¨ Punch List items
¨ Landscaping
¨ Bedford Triangle Park fence
