THE NYCDDC COMPLETES THE 86TH STREET PROJECT
The NYC Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) has completed the 86th Street Project. Capital construction project began in April 2007 and ran along 86th Street from Shore Road to Gatling Place. Work performed included the reconstruction/replacement of existing sewers, water mains, curbs, sidewalks, street lighting and roadway. In addition, 66 trees will be planted within the project limits.

On that note, the DDC would like to express its sincerest gratitude to everyone for their patience and corporation throughout this project.

List of Work Completed:

1. Roadway surface - 54,077.44 SF
2. 72" trunk main - 4,912.40 LF
3. Water Main - 8,895.40 LF of various sizes
4. Sewer - 3,346.50 LF various sizes
5. Stright steel face concrete surb - 8,245.76 LF
6. Sidewalk (size - 4" & 7") - 169,850.00 SF
7. Catch basins - amount of 50
8. Fire hydrant - amount of 36
9. Trees - amount of 27

Remaining Work Scheduled
Punch list item:
1.) Planting of 39 treess along 86th Street.

Special Needs
Please let the Community Construction Liaison know if there is anyone in your household or building who has special needs (dialysis,
wheelchair user, etc.) so that we can coordinate our construction activities.

Property Damage
You are advised to inform DDC or the Contractor of any property damage that you may have, and if the contractor fails to respond within 10 days, you should inform the DDC Borough Director in writing. If you intend to file a claim you must do so within 90 days of the occurrence with the New York City Comptroller’s Office.
